County Mayo
County Mayo boasts many attractions including stunning mounting scenery, megalithic tombs, excellent fishing waters, exciting hiking trails and great golf courses - including the championship course at Westport in west Mayo. You'll find Achill Island - the largest island off the Irish coast, and one of the the most beautiful.
Back on the mainland, Croagh Patrick, the pyramidal mountain, is where Saint Patrick is said to have performed his snake-banishing act. Mayo's other famous religious site is Knock, which is visited by hordes of pilgrims every year.
